Sinden In SF

The Count & Sinden "Beeper" (featuring Kid Sister)

I got a chance to catch up with Sinden while he was out here for his SF tour date. For those who haven't heard of him he, has an extensive remix discography, ranging from Santogold to Amy Winehouse. After being fortunate enough to hear some of the tracks for his upcoming album on Domino Records with fellow producer, The Count, I am eagerly awaiting its release. Its scheduled for a Spring 2009 release. Listening to the tracks instantly took me back to my trip to London a while ago... Grime, UK Garage, Drum & Bass... all in yo FACE!

Oh yeah, I also recorded a fresh track for the album as well...

Until then peep the first single of their project, "Beeper" featuring the homie Kid Sister... Another album I also have a track on!

Yeeeeee!!!

Out Today: Jazmine Sullivan

Jazmine Sullivan "Lions & Tigers" Live @ The Knitting Factory 9/17/08

"Why Do We love Love, when Love seems to hate Us..."

Now I haven't heard this whole project, but everything I've heard thus far is pointing to a very strong debut for Jazmine Sullivan. Out of all the tracks I've heard, "Lions & Tigers" is by far my favorite. If you've frequented Trackademia for a while, you've probably noticed my affinity for artist who put themselves out there emotionally.

If I can't feel it, I don't feel it.

With that said, "Lions & Tigers" puts Jazmine at the top of my list at the moment.

Tap played this song for me a while back, and like always, it took its time to take impact. I must say that Salaam Remi is so damn underrated its ridiculous.

The main reason I'm writing this is because of the message. Its not the first time someone is asking these questions. What I love is the honesty and vulnerability in the execution. For me, the payoff is in the bridge, both conceptually and musically. In whatever it is, sometimes you have to take a chance. I agree 100% with her...

I don't usually bet, but this goes out to the risk takers and high rollers...

Alright, once again, enough antics.

Wham! Its the first day of Autumn!!!

Wham! "Blue (live in China)"

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Wham!

I'm not talking about neon biker shorts, studded leather jackets, dreidel-like onstage spinning, or men's room shenanigans (apparently the homie George Michael was caught with weed AND CRACK in a bathroom in the UK this past Saturday)- I'm talking about the incredibly poignant songwriting they consistently offer their fans. "Blue" is a shining example of this fact. This song is more Sade-esque and serious than 80's candy pop.

I'm feeling this especially today... could be the end of Summer....

When Someone Great Is Gone.

LCD Soundsystem

I've been an LCD Soundsystem fan since May 14th 2005. That night, a few of us went to the Fillmore in SF to the LCD Soundsystem show to see M.I.A. open up. After M.I.A. finished, I was about to leave to go to Mistah F.A.B.'s Birthday Bash when my homeboy suggested I stay. With the glance he shot me, I knew that if I stayed, my life wouldn't be the same.

And it hasn't been.

I quickly got up on the genius of LCD, DFA, and James Murphy through subsequent projects and remixes, all which have significantly influenced my musical thought process...

Almost a year old, "Someone Great" is a testament to the strength of the machine that is LCD Soundsystem.

Simple.
Complex.
Concise.
Abstract.
Relevant.

"The worst is all the lovely weather,
I'm Sad. Its not raining."

I understand this song. I've been there. I am there. I live there.

Shout out to Bike Maker for the concept.
Shout out 1 O.A.K. for the execution.

Stay Tuned for more statements.

LCD Soundsystem "Someone Great"

I wish that we could talk about it,
But there, That's the problem.
With someone new I could have started,
Too late, for beginnings.
The little things that made me harassed,
Are gone, in a moment.
I miss the way we used to argue,
Locked, in your basement.

I wake up and the phone is ringing,
Surprised, as it's early.
And that should be the perfect warning,
That something's, a problem.
To tell the truth I saw it coming,
The way, you were breathing.
But nothing can prepare you for it,
The voice, on the other, end.

The worst is all the lovely weather,
I'm sad, it's not raining.
The coffee isn't even bitter,
Because, what's the difference?
There's all the work that needs to be done,
It's late, for revision.
There's all the time and all the planning,
And songs, to be finished.

And it keeps coming,
And it keeps coming,
And it keeps coming,
Till the day it stops
(Repeat x3)
And it keeps coming,
(Repeat x7)
Till the day it stops.

I wish that we could talk about it,
But there, that's the problem.
With someone new I could have started,
Too late, for beginnings.
You're smaller than my wife imagined,
Surprised, you were human.
There shouldn't be this ring of silence,
But what, are the options?

When someone great is gone.
(Repeat x8)

We're safe, for the moment.
Saved,
For the moment
