The big homie Lyrics Born Just dropped the first single from his upcoming album As U Were. This song, "Funky Hit Records" is produced by Lyrics born and yours truly (I did all of the drums). The song is payin' homage to that good good late 80's old school West Coast trunk rattlin' blap.

Last night I got a chance to catch Joyo Velarde @ the Boom Boom Room in SF for the launch of Myx TV's new label. I was excited because this was her first show headlining. She did a lot of material off of her upcoming album, dropping Spring 2009. The album is going to be fresh... Its about time!
Also, It was like a who's who of Bay Area Hip-Hop in the house... folks from Myx, Quannum, Skyblaze, ABB, damn near all of TRUE , and of course the Honor Roll, just to to name a few. Chief XL of Blackalicious was in the house as well! Oh yeah and a whole bunch of my twitter homies... There were also performances from Keelay & Zaire and Jern Eye.
For those of you that are up on Lyrics Born, odds are that you already know about Joyo Velarde. Ever since she dropped her first single "Sweet Angels", a few years back, I have been patiently waiting to hear a full-length project. Well now, that time is almost here! Quannum Projects will be dropping her debut album February of next year.

Honeycut “Shadows” (Remix) Shout out to Lydia over at Quannum Projects for this one. She hit me up one day and asked if I would be down to do a remix of this track. I wasn’t up on Honeycut but after hearing the track, I knew there was room to flex. The vocals were fun so I had to give it a real upbeat remix. I’m a big fan of dance rock and had been itching to do a remix in that vein. Of course, I can’t ever stay in one genre, so this one was also heavily influenced by my love for early 80’s Funk, Soul, Boogie, and Soulful Electro-House. This is somewhat of an homage to the aforementioned genres, as well as current dance music masters like DFA andMetro Area…This probably one of my favorites on the [Re]Mixtape.
Also, can I just say that the dancing in this youtube video is WONDERFUL… These dudes use an MPC and and ASR-10 in place of live drums. Wow.
