Peace out "Get Straight '08": Its 2000Grind.

Trackademicks- "Happy Birfday To Me!!!" LIVE @ PST Capricorn B-Day Celebration 12/28/08

Okay, now I know I kicking a dead horse here... but when the horse is a stallion, you gotta say you did it right? If that doesn't make any sense don't trip- I'm extra delirious from pulling an all nighter. It would have been more eventful, but one of our Yay Area rap superstars flaked on the session, so I ended up making some menacing soundscapes instead.

However, I digress. The above clip is footage of the most epic Birfday I have had to date. And halfway through the clip it gets better... Just because you read that Hyphy was "dead" in some publication, doesn't mean the Bay forgot how to go DUMB.

Also, below are a few photos from NYE at Club 6. Thanks for everyone that came out. It was a blast.

Mistah F.A.B. @ Apple Store SF

Photobucket

Yesterday, I had a chance to checkout my good homie Mistah F.A.B. at the Apple Store in downtown San Francisco. When I arrived, the line was around the block. I haven't seen him in a while, but the show was an intimate affair. It was a chance to connect with a lot of folks who were unfamiliar with him or hadn't ever seen him before.

There were a lot of heads in the spot: Stash Magazine, SMC Records, Clear Channel radio excecs, crazy teen fans, and a plethora of local rappers. He ran through a lot of his radio hits and remixes verses.

At one point in the middle of his set, his DJ Tito Bell dropped "If 'If' Was a Fifth" (which I produced). The crazy part was that someone yelled "Trackademicks!" as soon as it dropped! Either that person was unaware if was like five feet away, or intetionally massaged my ego for the day... I kid, I kid...

Later on in the set, FAB spots me in the crowd, and points me out. I saw a few incredulous look thrown my way. This was crazy because it reminded me that hella people may know about you, but have never seen you. He pulls me up to the front and plays one of my productions.

Expect More from us in the near future...

[Re]Cover Art.

Photobucket

"Is that your studio on the cover of the [Re}Mixtape?"

I am asked this quite frequently, in which I reply, "Why, yes, it is!"...

Then I am flooded with a range of questions/comments...

"Nord Lead. I got one too."

"KRKs eh? Got those too."

"IMac. Couldn't afford a Mac Pro?"

"An Mbox?!?! Is that it?"

And while I don't respond to all of them, here's the answer to one question i really don't mind answering:

Q: "Nice Cover Art. Who did it?"

A: She Did.

RMXTP2 Liner Notes: "Come Get It"

Yummy Bingham “Come Get It” (Trackademicks Remix)

The first time I ever heard Yummy’s voice was on the De La’s “Much More”. I’ve been a fan ever since (can I just say that I’m hella mad that the Rayne album never dropped!). It’s funny because her voice is hit or miss with a lot of people.
From the moment Tap played this song for me, I knew exactly how I wanted to flip it. Because the original was and some grandiose street-funk-pound steez, I decided to take it in a totally different direction. I knew I had to double-time it because there is so much energy in her voice. I wanted it to be a little less hard-edged and more electric-bubble-pop and fun. Originally, I never intended on jumping on the remix, but it only made sense after listening to the direction it was going in.

I originally remixed this track unofficially for the Spring Progress Report, which I dropped in late March 2006. Tap managed to get the remix placed on Yummy’s fan site. At the same time, the popularity of the Spring Progress Report was growing, helping it gain visibility. A few months later it was picked up by Universal/ Motown in the UK. Apparently, the label had already released the single in the UK, but felt like releasing the remix would help create more excitement for her project. This remix served as sort of a sign for me in probably one of the worst times in my life, as it was released in the UK literally one day after my studio had burned down. This was my first official remix, so I couldn’t stop when the ball was already rolling…
